mgetty rpm question

You have to recompile if the location of the lock file changes.
The reason behind this is: on a given system "X", there is *ONE* place for
the lock file, and *exactly* one place. There is nothing configurable
about this.
The above "counter example" is really only an example of a broken binary
distribution *sigh*
For a quick fix, you can just make a symlink /var/lock -> /var/lock/uucp.
Alternatively, re-compile mgetty from the sources - which is fairly easy
under Linux.
(Do *not* get mgetty 1.1.3, it is broken - my fault - get 1.0.0 or 1.1.2,
or wait for 1.1.4)
