Where is the modem?

Hi,
sounds like there *is* no modem on ttyS1. Are you sure you didn't connect
the modem to *COM*1? COM1 is ttyS*0* under Linux...
Can you see the modem with "cu -l ttyS1 -s 38400" and then typing
AT<RETURN>?
