   how is &C and &D set?  is CTS locked low when you see the modem?
   (do you know what the LED status was when you first noticed the problem?)
   is this an EG or an E? you have 6.10 roms, right??

CTS is always on irrespective of whether it hangs or
not. If it hangs, only DTR is low. The modem in
question is a 1496 E with 6.00 roms. I tried the EG+
with 6.10P too and the same occured. That's why I am
totally unsure what is the reason. It seems to be the
driver but sometimes the modem appears to be broken.
Still unsure, though... I'll have a look at the clocal
setting again tonight.
