Recommended modem

Is there a top choice for a fax modem to work with mgetty+sendfax-1.0.0?
It would only be used to send / receive faxes, so stuff like 56K
compatibility isn't important. Preferably, 14.4 on the fax side would be
nice.

I've already been through a USR X2 sportster which I couldn't get to send
more than 1 page to save my life, and a MultiTech 2834 which seems to be
flakey and has been unable to connect with 2 different fax machines so far
today, plus it tops out at 9600 for faxes. If there's a #1 choice for a
fax modem, I'd love to hear about it.
