newsgroup and mailing list the same ?

Hello,

I'm just wondering if all mails in the mailing list are posted to the
newsgroup, too? In my opinion this seems to be. But are all newsgroup
postings send to the newsgroup?

I think I will see in a few minutes if this mail is posted to the
list. Can someone tell me the real facts.

How can I access the mailing list archive from (what is it?) june till
now? I just found the time until that time in the archive.
