Hmmm. Where did you get your hp2pbm package from? I know that there have
been various patch levels. On ftp.leo.org, you should find the latest
version.

(I never tried bold font, IIRC, but on the other hand, I didn't have any
major problems with it so far either [except the G3/EOL bug which has been
fixed ages ago]).
