Server limitations on network I/O

Couple o' questions:

(1) What is the range of ASCII values which the server will accept (or 
output) through non-binary I/O?

(2) What is the maximum line length, both incoming and outgoing?

Are the answers platform-specific?  For modified MOO's (such as those 
handling Japanese), are the answers different than for the stock MOO server?
