I think a part of the reason we've been seeing so many newbie programmer
questions on MOO-Cows is that there is no longer a good, easy-to-find
place for new MOO programmers to learn. (It's a very long time between
requesting a character on LambdaMOO and receiving one's password.)
With this in mind, and having just found a spare machine which has VERY
LIMITED CAPACITY, I've set up what I'm calling (for now) NewbieMOO.
Character creation is automatic, and all characters are programmers.
However (and this is important), the place has a life span of ONE DAY.
Every night (morning, from my perspective), the server will restart
itself with a fresh LambdaCore.
I hope people can use this as a resource, a place to learn and to
experiment in a non-threatening environment. (I'm also looking for
clueful folks who are willing to hang out and maybe answer basic
newbie questions.)
The address of this happy place is
newbies.opal.org 8888
Comments are welcome. I've been told that I should probably extend the
one-day lifespan of this space into something like two weeks, but I
don't think this machine'd be too cool with it. Maybe once I see how
it's going...
